Observation. Licensing observed the following: * children's sleeping mats are stored individually while their bed sheets and blankets were placed on top, touching their neighbours' bed sheets * several sleeping mats appeared to be fraying and showing signs of wear - exposed foam and inner material. • PHYSICAL, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHING / Hazardous Objects and SubstancesNon-critical

Hazardous objects and substances are inaccessible to children. [CCLR Sec 17]

Observation. Licensing observed a light table in the small room that is also used for nap / rest. It's cord was observed loose and accessible. When speaking to an Educator about this, Licensing was informed that Educators are required to always be in the small room whenever children are napping. The Educator also informed that they find the light table heavy to move and therefore it is not easily moveable from the space. Licensing commented that despite the Educator stating that they must always be with the children in this space, it is feasible that a situation could arise where an Educator may need to step out of the room and thereby leaving the children with unsupervised access to the loose cord. The Educator commented that the light table was once located in the main activity space however it was moved because it was almost broken by a child.

A short while later, the Manager provided photographs demonstrating she had addressed all three items. When asked about the liquid that had been sprayed on a low table, the Manager informed that it was a bleach / water solution. At that same time, a child walked by the table and trailed their hand on the surface. Licensing Officer brought this to the attention of the Educator who was with the child.
