    Observation. Licensing observed expired medication for a child who has asthma. Licensing was informed that a child has been prescribed an epi-pen, "just in case" yet it was not present in the child's bag nor was there one available at the facility.

    Observation. Some care plans were compiled in 2024. As discussed with the Manager, care plans are to be renewed on an annual basis. Care plans are required for two children in care.

    Observation. Licensing observed the last fire drill documented as occurring on May 21 2024. This date is also documented as when the last annual emergency preparedness drill was practiced.

    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: * first and second bathroom sinks have cracked porcelain and may break further, especially the sink located in the first bathroom * a wall located in the first bathroom, behind the diaper change table is in need of repair and re-painting * deep clean is needed of the kitchen appliances as they were visibly soiled Please continue to monitor the TV electrical cord in the second room when the room is used by the children. During today's inspection, the Manager tucked it way.

    There is an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency. [CCLR Sec. 22(1)(b)]

    Observation. Inspected by LO - In Training LA. Licensing observed the emergency preparedness supplies in place except for food and water. A discussion was held with the staff who confirmed that food and water supplies were recently available however they could not be located during the inspection.

    Observation. LO - In Training LA observed a record demonstrating monthly fire drills however, no records were found for May to August 2024. Licensing inquired whether the program was operating during those months and the staff confirmed that it was. A discussion was held to clarify that monthly fire drills are required whenever a program is in operation under the facility's licence. The emergency preparedness drill was practiced and recorded for 2024, however staff stated they did not bring their emergency supplies or follow the emergency drill as outlined in their emergency plan.

    Maintenance of Equipment: A log is kept of all inspections, maintenance and repairs. [Director of Licensing Standard of Practice - Safe Play Space]

    Observation. A discussion was held about daily outside play space inspections and how they are implemented. The Manager stated that staff were previously unaware that they had to conduct and document inspections every time they used the outdoor play grounds. The Manager stated that they have met with staff and discussed this issue further. The Manager has stated that they will be continuously checking in to ensure the inspection checklists are implemented as required.
