- PHYSICAL, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHING / EnvironmentNon-critical
The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction. They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]
Observation. LO observed that there has been cleaning throughout the facility. The bathroom appears to have had a deep clean with removal of unused items (potty's, etc.). The nap room has some cleaning / organizing. Discussed moving the plug that is in the wall outlet, the Manager stated that there is no safety concerns as the mat beside the outlet is for her use only. Some areas that need to be addressed moving forward include - organizing / cleaning and reducing of items in the circle / lunch area, the couch in the main room is worn, there is an area on the wall where the drywall has come away and there is a piece of metal exposed and could be hazardous. LO also discussed the importance of removing toys / equipment that is not age or developmentally appropriate for the children in care and having easy / quick access to a variety of equipment. Even if there are children who are still in the stage of development where they dump toys, as this helps toddlers build spatial awareness (understanding capacity) and fine motor skills. It also teaches them about cause and effect ("if I tip this, things fall").
- PHYSICAL, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHING / Play Area, Materials and EquipmentNon-critical
All indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are suitable for the age and development of the children, safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair. [CCLR Sec. 16(4)]
Observation. The outdoor space is fully enclosed, some areas that should be addressed include - remove or repair broken toys, sandbox is quite low, with the fabric underlay exposed. There are also wood pieces at the front of the home and on the deck leading to the outdoors (which the licensee stated she is throwing them away). Also, it is recommended that you ensure the buckets at the back of the yard are safe, with no standing water and no risk to children.

LO did not see any photos on file, but did not clarify with Licensee if she has access to photos of each child. February 6, 2026 - This is recurring as there has been no change to the files. It is up to the licensee to ensure that they are meeting the regulations at all times, and any items that have been noted on inspection reports must be corrected. Licensee stated she has not completed fire or emergency drills. This space also has a gate, which could imply that children are restrained within this space. Any space for children must be easy to clean, clean and in good repair. LO did observe that there are additional items and numerous plugs and wires throughout the space. These could be hazardous to children if they are alone in this space. LO is recommending that you remove all items that are not related to napping. It is also important that wires and any items that children could access be make inaccessible. There are two play areas, the second being across from the kitchen. The Licensee stated that this is used for meals and circle. There is also a gate in this area, LO to discuss at future inspections the purpose of this gate.
