    Observation. LO observed the facility clean and well organized. Most cupboards have latches with the exception of a large cupboard that was used to storage cleaning products. Licensee stated that she will either latch it or move the cleaning products so they are not accessible. There was also a container of Lysol cleaning wipes that were accessible to children.

    Implementation of the fire drill system is practiced at least once each month, and implementation of the emergency plan is practiced at least once each year. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(b)(c)]

    Observation. Fire drills are practiced monthly, but Licensee stated that they have not conducted emergency drills. Discussion included consideration of procedures to follow if the facility were unable to remain on site (once evacuated) due to weather-related events (rain, snow, heat dome, etc.) or safety concerns. The discussion highlighted the importance of identifying an alternate location that is accessible to parents, suitable for indoor sheltering, and capable of accommodating children and staff for an extended period of time, if required.

    Observation. LOs observed that there are no emergency supplies kept on site. During today's visit Licensee showed LO some emergency supplies that she has purchased. We discussed gathering sufficient supplies for children and staff for up to 3 days - We also discussed keeping supplies together as in a rolling suitcase, so that they are easily accessible in case of an emergency evacuation. Licensee stated that she understood and would put more supplies together and send LO a photo once this has been completed. These can be pre-made kits or gathered by the caregiver.

Comments from previous inspection: LOs observed the following: • cords from window blinds and a camera accessible to children in the nap room • edges lifting up on a round rug in the main activity space • children sharing one hand towel in the washroom, posing a hygiene concern • safety gate to the kitchen was not latched and children accessed the kitchen several times during the inspection
