    Observation. A review of the facility's emergency plan revealed that it is incomplete. Updates are required to the plan, including identification of an evacuation location and creating an evacuation kit. There was no record of an emergency plan practice within the past year. A system for ensuring that each employee practices the emergency plan, and that the practice is recorded, is required.

  • C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical

    Observation. Criminal record check results are required for two youth volunteers who are over the age of 12. Criminal record check results must be obtained prior to any employee or volunteer commencing employment.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

    Observation. There is a hole in the linoleum between the activity area and the kitchen area. This may become a tripping hazard if allowed to grow. A method of ensuring the hole doesn't become a hazard is required.

    Observation. Licensing was not made aware of the details of recent changes to the management of the facility. This issue has now been resolved. Please notify licensing when the changes are no longer in effect.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

    Observation. Some items labeled "Keep out of reach of children" were stored in a closet that could be accessed by children, and under the kitchen sink. An electrical outlet wasn't covered. A drawer in the kitchen, that contains knives and scissors was unlocked. All potentially hazardous items must be made inaccessible to children.

  • C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical

    Observation. All staff who work with children have evidence of completing an Occupational First Aid course, however this course does not appear to meet the requirements of Section 23 and Schedule C (2) of the Child Care Licensing Regulation.

  • C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical

    Observation. Some children's files were found to be missing information required by legislation. A record of the date a child starts the program and the date they stop attending the program is required. Digital or printed photos for all children are required. Some children's files were missing their personal health number and physician's name and phone number. Staff report that daily inspections of the outdoor play space are being conducted, however they must be documented.

    Observation. Criminal Record Check results hadn't been received for one new employee. A plan to ensure that the employee isn't left alone with children until their CRC is received is in place.

    Observation. A record indicating that fire drills were practiced 9 of the previous 12 months was viewed. A system appears to be in place to conduct monthly fire drills in the future. Please confirm this system by follow up date.

    Observation. Children's registration forms must contain emergency contact information for persons other than the parents.
