A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Diaper cream on table and accessible.

Corrective action. Ensure hazardous objects cannot be accessed.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. Reviewed 4 child files, 1 did not contain emergency contact information.

Corrective action. Ensure files contain required information.

Observation. Review of 3 children files observed that one child was missing emergency contact name and phone number on file.

Corrective action. Please ensure that all children files are complete.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. There are some fence panels that have wood pieces that are broken or loose. There was also a pile of wood strips that have nails exposed behind the shed.

Corrective action. A corrective action plan will be submitted.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

Observation. There was no attendance available for review for last year (2022) and there were 2 days this month that attendance was not recorded.

Corrective action. Ensure to keep records easily accessible for review at the time of inspection, and to record daily attendance.

A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.

Observation. There was no record of fire drills from March 2022 to Dec 2022.

Corrective action. Ensure to practice and record these drills monthly.

A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.

Observation. There was no evidence of practising the emergency drill for 2022.

Corrective action. Ensure to practice and record these drills annually.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): There was an asthma inhaler on the washroom counter and eye drops on the table in the living room that was accessible to children. A discussion occurred about this and the Manager removed the items during the inspection.

Corrective action. Ensure children do not have access to any items that may be hazardous to them. Any personal medications and toiletries should be made inaccessible to children at all times.

Corrective action. Ensure each file has this information documented.
