• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. Upon reviewing staff files, Licensing observed that criminal record checks were not up to date

  Corrective action. Manager applied for their criminal record checks to be renewed in September and will send renewed checks to Licensing as soon as possible

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. The following was observed: -hot tub was unlocked -a wine rack with wine bottles was located next to where children are playing at nap time -a TV was located on a short table and was not secured. The staff person moved it at the time of the inspection.

  Corrective action. Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is maintained and provide a written response to how items above have been addressed.

• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

  Observation. The Manager said that the emergency drill was completed but not documented

  Corrective action. Ensure that a record of the emergency drill is maintained.

  Observation. Licensing observed a cleaning spray bottle in the bathroom that was accessible to children.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided to children while in care.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.

  Observation. Licensee and staff haven't been practicing implementing the emergency drill. Recommendation made about even practicing with children and bringing their supplies to their site.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that staff practices the emergency drill one time per year.
