A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. The facility baseboards have chipping paint exposing wood underneath the paint.
Corrective action. Licensee said she will address the baseboard and other areas of chipping paint throughout the facility.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. The food in the emergency kit was past it's best before date.
Corrective action. The Licensee said she will replenish the emergency kit.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. Of the four children's file inspected, two did not identify emergency contacts.
Corrective action. Discussed with Licensee the intent of emergency contact. Licensee said she will update.
19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. An individual who ordinarily resides in the home attached to the facility does not have a CRC.
Corrective action. Licensing discussed the requirement of CRCs for individuals who are ordinarily present. Licensee said she will obtain a CRC.

Observation. -Chipping paint on a wall in the playroom. -Chipping paint on crib railing.
Corrective action. Manager says they will submit their corrective action plan to licensing via written response.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one or more employees.
Corrective action. Manager will obtain immunization status from second staff.

Observation. The CRC on file for the manager is expired.
Corrective action. Manager says they will apply for a CRC thorough the criminal record check review program and inform Licensing. The site also has a second staff that works from 11:30 AM to closing who does have a valid CRC on file.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. Licensing inspected two staff files and noted that one did not contain a CRC from the Criminal Record Check Review Program.
Corrective action. Ensure CRCs for employees are obtained through the Criminal Record Check Review program.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Licensing observed many stains, dirt and grime on the walls, lightswitches, and fridge within the care facility. Licensing provided education on the recommended cleaning and sanitizing expectations especially during COVID 19.
Corrective action. Please ensure that the furniture, equipment and fixtures within the care facility are clean and in good repair.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed the following; - There is a plastic slide and climber structure in the outdoor play area that is right beside the wooden fence. Potential for a child to climb over the fence and into the neighbouring backyard. Licensing provided education on ensuring that they play structures are not located right beside a fence and adequate distance that should be maintained. - The entrance/exit gate's latch, that leads into the backyard play area and facility,is broken.
Corrective action. Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
Observation. Licensing observed a teeter tater in the outdoor play area that is broken on one corner and along the back. The area that the plastic is broken is sharp upon touch. Potential for children to cut themselves.
Corrective action. Please ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. Upon a review of three out of eleven children's records, Licensing observed one child's record missing the name and telephone number of a medical practitioner. Licensing provided education on what would be acceptable and meet the intent of the regulation.
Corrective action. Please ensure that children's records are complete prior to the child attending the care facility.
