    Observation. While on site, the following was observed: -White stool in outdoor play space that is broken, removed at the time of inspection (CORRECTED) -Thermometer for fridge that was purchased was a thermometer used to check children's temperatures and was not stored in fridge. Discussion had with Licensee about obtaining a thermometer that is specific to being used within the fridge (not digital).

    Corrective action. Please provide a written response to indicate how you will address the contravention noted above on or before January 13, 2026

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. While on site, the following was noted: -Outlet by the crib is not covered, facility has older electrical which requires an outlet cover. -Crib is in disrepair,with one railing that is broken and not attached on one side. -Sanitizer and soap and water bottle is not clearly labelled. -Fence installed around the AC unit, however, little hands still have access to the unit through the railing. -Cubbie was secured but had become unattached to the wall. -Fridge which is used to store lunches does not have a thermometer which allows the Licensee to ensure that fridge temperature is 4 Degrees Celsius or below.

    Corrective action. Please provide a written response to indicate how you will address the contravention noted above on or before January 16, 2025

    Observation. DLSOP Active Play – The licensed child care program did not ensure a minimum of 60 minutes per day of outdoor active play. Licensee stated that they go outside for 30 minutes.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following; - A dirty mop in a bucket filled with water, in the bathtub, in the main bathroom. -Two cubbies that are not secured. One was wobbly upon touch. - A hose sprawled on the cement area in the outdoor play area. Potential tripping hazard. - An AC in the outdoor pebble play area. The Manager informed Licensing that they are going to be building a fence around it. - The black underlay tarp exposed in the outdoor play area. Potential tripping hazard.

    Corrective action. Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.

    A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency.

    Observation. Licensing observed several cars in front of the inside of the laundry room door and door leading into the garage. This is an emergency exit in case of a fire or any other emergency.

    Corrective action. Ensure that equipment, furniture and supplies are not blocking or hampering an exit in the case of fire or other emergency.

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following in the outdoor play area; - A tree, in the outdoor pea gravel area, that has branches that need trimming as they are long and hanging low in children's play path. - Overgrown grass and weeds. - A small two wheeler bike that has one flat tire. - The rubber grip on the handle of a medium sized two wheeler bike is ripped. Licensing discussed having a system in place to ensure that the outdoor area is being maintained as it is a repeat contravention.

    Corrective action. Ensure that community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures in it are clean and in good repair while children are in care.

    A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

    Observation. Licensing observed that there was insufficient food and other supplies in the on-wheels earthquake bag for 72 hours and the amount of children in care. Licensed had a discussion with the Licensee about supplies and ensuring that there is enough for 72 hours.

    Corrective action. Ensure that an emergency plan is in place to recover from any emergency.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed: -Ride on toys in a driveway which is not enclosed and leads to a road. -The fridge temperature was measured at 14 degrees Celsius. -The facility backyard is in need of extensive maintenance. -There is general clutter throughout the facility. -There are a number of toys and equipment in the outdoor play space which are damaged, broken and in need of maintenance. -A gate used to enclose the outdoor play space is no longer there. -There is underlay coming through the gravel, posing a tripping hazard.

    Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: -A storage cupboard which is not secured, posing a tipping hazard. -A bottle of febreeze on the counter in one of the bathrooms. -Temperature sensitive foods stored on top of the children's cubbies. -Ride on toy in the driveway which is not enclosed and has direct access to the street. -A stroller which was wet had signs of mold. -The stairs leading to the facility are slippery. -There are large mounds of mud in the facility's back yard. The ground is really soft and hard to walk on. -A vegetable planter box has tall, prickly branches which pose a hazard.

    Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is maintained at all times.

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: -A large container of baby powder in the children's cubbies (corrected during inspection). -A large container of Vaseline in the children's cubbies. -A bottle of listerine on bathroom counter, accessible to children. -Lysol cleaner in an unlocked cupboard under a bathroom sink (repeat contravention). -Nail clippers on a bathroom counter. -Large sewing needle in an unlocked drawer in the kitchen (corrected during inspection). -Nail polish remover on the kitchen counter (corrected during inspection). -A sharp screw on top of the play kitchen (corrected during inspection). -Long screw drivers in an unlocked drawer in the kitchen. -A bucket of wood debris in the outdoor play space. -A very large bag of lawn food accessible to children in the outdoor play space. -A sharp gardening tool in a small vegetable garden box in the outdoor play space. -Licensee's personal medication on the windowsill in the kitchen, right above a hadwashing sink. -An unlocked closet which has items stored in it from floor to ceiling. The items pose a tipping hazard since the closet is not locked. -There is no system in place to secure blind cords. -A food processor blade in an unlocked drawer in the kitchen.

    Corrective action. Ensure children do not have access to items or substance which may be hazardous to the health and safety of children in care.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: -There is a climbing structure in the outdoor play space, positioned close to a wooden edge, causing there to be insufficient clearance around it. -There is no covered container in the bathroom to dispose of used paper towels, diapers or bathroom garbage. At the time of inspection, there was used paper towel left on the counter. (Corrected during inspection). -One of the bathrooms did not have any system to dry hands as part of a complete handwahsing routine (repeat contravention). -The facility's outdoor play space requires maintenance (repeat contravention). -The cleaning and diesinfecting bottles were not labelled (repeat contravention). -The plastic underlay is popping out at various places in the outdoor play space (repeat contravention). -Several nap mats with ripped corners and exposed foam (repeat contravention).

    Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

Licensing observed the following: -A large climbing structure in the living room does not have sufficient clearing around it. -The stairs leading to the main door of the facility were slippery. -The facility outdoor play space requires maintenance. -The equipment in the facility's outdoor play space requires maintenance. -Paper towels (or any other system of hand drying) were not available in the facility bathroom as part children's complete handwashing routine. -The disinfectant bottles were not labelled correctly. -The laundry room which contained hazardous materials was accessible to children in care. -Hair care product was observed in an unlocked cupboard in the children's bathroom.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: -Two broken metal rusted training wheels laying out in the outdoor play area. - Two Sleeping mats that are ripped exposing the foam underlay. This prevents the mats from being sanitized effectively. - A tall shelf in one of the play rooms that is not secured. (This is a repeat contravention). -The entire kitchen is broken; all of the cupboard doors have been removed, the dishwasher is pulled out exposing the underlay cover, part of the counter tops have been ripped out, there are exposed pipes under the sink, there is a hole in the above cupboard wall, and wires exposed above the sink. Children sit in this kitchen area to have snack and lunch. Licensing has asked for a plan to ensure that children do not have access to the exposed kitchen.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.
