Licensing observed the following that are accessible to children in care; - large wooden pole on the ground in the outdoor play area. - rat box in the outdoor play area - bleach and water solution on the counter - chemical solution bottle in the first aid kit on the counter. The Manager removed the bottle and placed it on a higher up shelf.

Licensing discussed that all facility records (staff, children and policies) need to be kept at the facility in a single place for Licensing to have access to and review.

While on site, the following was noted: -Noticeable unpleasant smell possibly coming from the washroom, deep clean needed in order to find out where the strong odor is coming from. -Walls in need of a wipe down as there is visible dirt and finger prints along wall and by light switches.Visible dirt along ledges and moulding that runs along the facility. -Corner of some ledges and by entry, paint has started to peel.

    Observation. -There is still a hole in the ground within the outdoor play space. The hole contains a piece of concrete which can act as a tripping hazard. A hockey net has been placed on top of the hole, however, it is no a permanent solution (repeat). -Two blind cords that are accessible to the children in care. Discussion had with staff about placing the cords up high so children cannot reach them.

    Observation. The following were noted: -Areas where wear and tear has started to show, i.e. ledges where paint has peeled, trim by floor where paint has peeled. -Some areas that are in need of cleaning, ledges, tops of trim, floor at today's inspection had many pieces of jelly clings and pieces of debris on the ground etc.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. The following were noted at today's inspection: -Change table which had previously been discussed in a follow-up inspection is still on site and stored in the bathroom against the wall, acting as a topple hazard. -Heater was very hot. Staff indicated that they only turn on the heater that is under a bench, however, it is still accessible to the children in care and could cause injury. -Tacks on wall above bench are accessible to children in care. -Staff's personal belongings were stored on the ledge, accessible to children (corrected). -Outside in play space, large hole in ground along with a piece of concrete near the hole which can act as a tripping hazard. -Play structure is located right next to the fence, as this is a climbing structure, there should be approximately 6 ft clearance from the fence.

    Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment.

    Observation. The following was observed at the time of inspection: -Heater guard behind/beside the bench was hot to the touch. Some discussion had with Licensee in regard to how to address this concern. -Licensee provides paper towel to the children when they come out of the washroom. Discussion had about having papertowel more readily accessible in the washroom or directly beside the washroom so children can dry their hands right away. -Electrical kettle accessible to the children in care. -Closet has not door and has many items stacked inside (i.e. sleep mats, puzzles, etc). Could be a topple hazard. -Tacks used for posting art and information are accessible to the children in care.

    Observation. One child who is enrolled in the program is under 30 months of age. Discussion had with the Licensee in regard to meeting Schedule E of the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR).

    Corrective action. Please ensure that children enrolled in the program meet the criteria set out in Schedule E of the CCLR. Should the Licensee want to continue care to this child, an application for exemption must be submitted and be approved by Licensing.
