    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. At this inspection, licensing observed a tall heavy shelf was not secured which can be a tipping hazard.

    Corrective action. The manager said that she will report it to the licensee to find a way to secure it.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

    Observation. Upon review of eight children's records, one was missing an emergency contact.

    Corrective action. The manager said that she will have a conversation with the child's parents to acquire and record this information.

    A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

    Observation. Licensing observed that there is no record of the emergency drill being practiced annually.

    Corrective action. The manager said that fire drills and disaster drills are done at the same time as the school. She will ensure that the drills are recorded on their logs.

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (b) a responsible adult unless the person has the qualifications required under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications]. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): One staff that works as a Responsible Adult had only 12 hours of training documented in their file.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that any staff that works as a Responsible Adult has 20 hours of training documented. Licensee provided more documents by email that showed the staff met the requirements. Copies of these documents will be printed and added to the staff's file.
