(4) Despite subsection (1), a licensee who provides a care program described as Occasional Child Care need not provide a program of outdoor activities. (5) Despite subsection (3), that subsection applies to a licensee who provides a care program described as Child-minding only if the program provides care for 3.5 hours or more each day.

    Observation. Staff have not provided all children opportunities for outdoor play since September 2025.

    Corrective action. The licensee will provide a plan to address the contravention by November 26, 2025.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (a) of sturdy and safe construction, easy to clean and free from hazards.

    Observation. The following items were identified as safety hazards during the inspection; - electrical cord plugged in near a sink - shelf that had been previously secured was not secure enough to prevent an injury in the event of an emergency - alarm on the back door leading to a common hallway was not working - BBQ stored on the floor blocking an emergency exit - shelf in one of the bathrooms not secured to the wall LO reviewed all of these items with the Licensee during the inspection. This is a repeat contravention.

    Corrective action. Ensure equipment, furniture and supplies are sturdy, safe and free from hazards.

  • HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE

    A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A child experienced a nose bleed during the inspection. A staff wiped the area with a tissue. LO discussed with the staff the requirement for disinfecting the area with an appropriate sanitizing solution when bodily fluids are present. The staff then cleaned the area with a bleach solution. LO additionally spoke to the Licensee regarding staff training in health and hygiene.

    Corrective action. Ensure health and hygiene practices are maintained at all times.

    Observation. Seventeen children were in attendance with one staff member and one volunteer putting the program over the staff to child ratio for a portion of the inspection. LO reviewed the staff to child ratio and Schedule E with the staff and the Licensee during the inspection.

    Corrective action. Ensure the employees to children ratio follows Schedule E of the regulations.

Additionally children were not recorded as arriving and departing in the morning and afternoon after school. LO discussed with the Licensee the requirement of recording accurate arrival and departure times at all times.

    Corrective action. Ensure accurate attendance documents are maintained including arrival, departure and absent records.
