- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. A loud high pitch sound is coming into the first nap space. A conversation with the Manager and Director and the sound has been happening for a while. They have asked for a contractor to come and look at it again.
Corrective action. Ensure that the sounds that children are exposed to are comfortable and not too loud for the type of activity the children are doing. The Manager will create a plan on children's napping routine until the source of the sound can be determined and removed.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency.
Observation. emergency exits from the infant toddler rooms have a lock on the top of the door during child-care hours. It was discussed that this lock would need to be open during the day for the emergency exits.
Corrective action. ensure that the emergency exits are not hampered in case of fire or other emergency.
11090 - CCLR s.15(1)(b) - OR SUPERVISION
Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation. The staffing plan was reviewed and two group childcare (under 36 months) programs have an ECEA working as the second staff in the program. It was discussed that Schedule E explains the second staff with 5-8 children would need to be an ECE.
Corrective action. Ensure that staff schedules are no less than permitted in Schedule E.
14030 - CCLR s.34(2)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. 2 children do not have record of a medical practitioner name or phone number.
Corrective action. ensure that each child has a record of medical practitioner name and telephone number.
