A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.

Observation. Staff is using soap and water only to clean the tables that is not sufficient to disinfect or sanitize the surface.

Corrective action. Please ensure to establish a program to practice health and hygiene.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. Insufficient supplies in the emergency survival bin.

Corrective action. Please ensure to have systems in place to mitigate the risk and recover from any emergencies.

Observation. Staff were not aware of a child's dietary instructions.

Corrective action. The licensee will provide a corrective action plan to address the contravention.

Observation. Licensee did not follow documented instructions in a child’s records.

Corrective action. The licensee will provide a corrective action plan to address the contravention.

Observation. Staff did not provide a child's parent with information regarding the food the child had consumed.

Corrective action. The licensee will provide a corrective action plan to address the contravention.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

Observation. Cleaning solution was stored on top of microwave shelf that was accessible to children.

Corrective action. Please ensure that children do not have access to anything that may be hazardous to children's safety.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. Review of six children files observed one child was missing medical practitioner's name and phone number on file in the west pod program.

Corrective action. Please ensure that all children files are complete.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. Criminal Record Check not obtained for one staff.

Corrective action. Ensure that all staff files are completed prior to their start date.

A licensee must do all of the following: (b) operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote (i) the health, safety and dignity of persons in care,

Observation. At the time of the inspection the program was using two of the three outdoor play grounds. Large numbers of community and other programs were also using the outdoor equipment. The group was not readily identified due to the large number of children present. Identification through the use of pinnies was not in place posing a risk to the children in attendance. LO reviewed this item in depth with the manager at the time of the inspection.

Corrective action. Ensure safety measures of children all of the children is in place at all times.
