- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. There are a few wooden pieces in the backyard that are starting to rot and have sharp edges that may cause splinters.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. There is a soft mat on the floor in the main play area that is visibly dirty, being used as a resilient surface for a small indoor slide.
Corrective action. Please ensure that equipment are clean.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. The diaper mat is torn in several parts which makes it ineffective to clean and disinfect.
Corrective action. A new diaper mat will replace the old one.
15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. There is no fire drill record from March to August 2025.
Corrective action. Licensee said she will record their drills.
13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Emergency supplies do not have enough food. The fire extinguisher is expired.
Corrective action. Licensee will add food in their emergency supplies. An appointment to service the fire extinguisher is happening this afternoon.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (f) a log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events involving children, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H.
Observation. There is no current log of minor accidents, illlnesses and unexpected events. There are only some logs in 2017 and 2024. Incidents are only verbally communicated with parents.
Corrective action. Licensee will start logging minor incidents.
19050 - CCLR s.56(1)(f) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. Upon review of several children's records, one is missing an emergency contact.
Corrective action. Licensee will have a conversation with the parents and record this information.
19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. Upon review of several children's records, one is missing the medical insurance plan number.
Corrective action. Licensee will get this information from the parents and record it.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): There are spray bottles with cleaning chemical in them on the counter top in the kitchen accessible to the children.
Corrective action. The Licensee removed these and put them in a spot inaccessible to children.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - OR SUPERVISION
A licensee must do all of the following: (b) operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote (i) the health, safety and dignity of persons in care,
Observation. On August 1, 2024 the maximum group size of 7 was exceeded; 8 children were in care for a period of approximately 2 hours.
Corrective action. The Licensee stated one child was only there for a short period of time and came for a visit; they are no longer attending.
14360 - CCALA s.7(1)(b)(i) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation. Immunization status was not available.
Corrective action. A corrective action plan will be submitted.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. In the nap room there are two cribs, both with drop down sides. These cribs have been recalled and are not to be used for the children. There is also a playpen that is not in good repair that is not to be used by the children.
Corrective action. Please ensure there is appropriate sleep furniture used for the children.

Observation. A total of 7 children's files were reviewed and 2 are missing photos.

A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. A child was observed to have their hands wiped with a disinfecting wipe. As the wipes had been transferred into another container, it was not possible to determine exactly what kind of wipes they were but the Licensee indicated they use the wipes to sanitize surfaces as well.
Corrective action. Please ensure that any products used on the children are appropriate. Please note that the best method to ensure clean hands on the children is to wash with soap and water.
