    Observation. A small, mobile climbing structure is located 3 feet away from concrete stepping stones. This poses a risk to children if they were to fall. A 6 foot clearance around play equipment is required to reduce the risk of injury. Ensure there is a minimum of 6 feet of clearance around outdoor play structures/equipment. Provide a response to Licensing with evidence of corrections by April 23, 2025.

  • C2.1 - Are written policies and procedures in place to guide employees in all matters regarding the care and supervision of children?Non-critical

    Observation. Facility records indicate that the last fire drill was practiced in February 2025. Monthly practices are required to ensure employees and children are prepared to respond appropriately in case of emergency and reduce risks to safety. Ensure each employee practices implementing the fire drill system at least once per month and that fire drill practices are recorded as required. Provide a response to Licensing with evidence of corrections by April 23, 2025.

    Observation. The daily play space inspection record indicates the last outdoor play space inspection occurred on March 28, 2025. Daily, monthly and annual play space inspections are required to reduce the risk of injury to children. Ensure there is a record/log of all play space inspections, including maintenance and repair actions taken. Provide a response to Licensing with evidence of corrections by April 23, 2025.

    Observation. On 20-Jan-2023 children were outside or inside on their own without the educator providing supervision. On 02-Mar-2023 the Licensee stated they would provide children with close supervision. On 16-Mar-2023 a child was sleeping upstairs on their own while the educator was downstairs with the other children. It is noted that the Licensee stated the sleeping child was being supervised by their father, however the child was still signed into the care of the Licensee.

  • C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical

    Observation. On 20-Jan-2023 there were persons 12 years and over residing in the home that did not hold a criminal record check. On 02-Mar-2023 the Licensee confirmed two of the criminal record checks were still outstanding and the family sharing their home was moving out on 01-Apr-2023. On 16-Mar-2023 there are still criminal record checks outstanding.

    Observation. On 20-Jan-2023 attendance records were incomplete. On 02-Mar-2023 the Licensee stated daily attendance records were corrected. On 16-Mar-2023 no arrival times had been recorded for any children. Corrected during the inspection. On 20-Jan-2023 not all children attending the facility had registration information. On 02-Mar-2023 the Licensee stated all children have registration information. On 16-Mar-2023 two children did not have registration information, the Licensee printed the records during the inspection.

    Observation. Radon testing is currently underway.

    Observation. On 20-Jan-2023 emergency plans were not practiced in 2022. On 02-Mar-2023 the Licensee stated they had a new form and the practices would occur. On 16-Mar-2023 it was confirmed that the emergency plans still had not been practiced.

    Observation. There are people 12 years and older that reside at the home and do not have a criminal record check.

    Observation. Minor incidents have not been recorded. Child records were reviewed, two children did not have registration information and one child's information was provided via email. Two children's attendance was not recorded on the attendance records. Four children did not have a digital image that could be used to identify the child in an emergency. The play space inspections were not being completed.

  • C5.1 - Are healthy eating and nutritional habits promoted and practiced?Non-critical

    Observation. A child was inside unsupervised, eating their morning snack, while the educator was outside with the other children.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

    Observation. Children had access to indoor spaces reserved for the families personal use only. A play mat was ripped, and is no longer in good repair. Chemicals and cleaning products were stored in a cupboard in the bathroom, and were accessible to children. A movable piece of climbing equipment did not have 1.8 meter clearance from the front fence.

    Observation. The fire drill was not practiced each month that the facility was operating. The emergency plans were not practiced in 2022.
