A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

Observation. It was noted that children have access to the following hazardous objects or substances: Cleaning supplies under bathroom sink Toilet plunger next to toilet Toilet brush next to toilet Cough medicines in refrigerator Alcoholic beverage in refrigerator Warm kettle on edge of counter containing water

Corrective action. Manager will ensure these items are removed or made inaccessible to the children in care

A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to (b) a wash basin.

Observation. Diaper change area was outside of the bathroom, next to an exit door, and not next to the wash basin

Corrective action. Manager will ensure children's diapers are changed next to a wash basin at all times

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.

Observation. Staff credentials are not posted in a prominant place

Corrective action. Manager will post staff credentials in a prominant place

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

Observation. During walk through of facility it was noted that the Manager's name is not posted in a prominent place

Corrective action. Manager will ensure their name is posted in a prominent place

A licensee must display a copy of the fire drill system in a prominent place in the community care facility.

Observation. It was noted that the fire drill/safety exit system is not posted in the CCF

Corrective action. Manager will ensure the fire drill/safety exit system is posted

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. Audit of 8 children's files, 2 files are missing emergency contact

Corrective action. Manager will ensure children's files contain all required documentation

A licensee must have in writing from a parent, and maintain at the community care facility, consent (a) to call a medical practitioner or ambulance in case of accident or illness if the parent cannot immediately be reached.

Observation. Audit of 8 files revealed 1 file is missing parental consent to contact emergency personnel if required

Corrective action. Manager will ensure all required documentation is present
