• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During a walk through of the home it was noted that a bookshelf located in the nap room is not secured, or is very loose and it or the contents of the shelf could fall on a child in the playpen located next to the shelf which could cause injury to a young child

  Corrective action. Licensee/Manager states they will secure the shelf in order to prevent injury from falling

• If the child has a care plan that includes instructions respecting behavioural guidance, the licensee must ensure that (b) if the behavioural guidance includes the use of restraints, that the restraints are administered only by a person who is trained in the use of, and alternatives to the use of, restraints.

  Observation. Licensing determined a car seat was used during nap time to ensure the health and safety of all children in care, and although verbal consent from the guardian was given, no care plan was discussed or developed.
