  Observation. Licensing Officer observed the following: -In one of the nap rooms, a crib that was not currently in use was observed to be used for storing miscellaneous items. Additionally, on top of the crib, observed three stacked nap cots. Discussion took place regarding safe storage practices. Storing unused equipment on top of a crib presents a safety risk, as the stacked cots could fall and potentially injure children below. -In the outdoor play space, along the perimeter of the building, observed prickly, overgrown weeds within the children’s play space that are accessible to children.

  Play materials and/or equipment are not safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair. [CCLR Sec. 16(4)(b)]

  Observation. In the outdoor play space, Licensing Officer observed the following: -Three foam cushions designed to resemble wooden stumps were observed to be in poor repair, showing visible signs of wear and tear. -The white metal fence enclosing the outdoor play space appears to have visible mildew and dirt buildup. -The paint on the wooden climbing bar equipment appears to be chipped. Additionally, the climbing equipment is showing visible signs of wear and tear.

  A record for each child containing the name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(a)]

  Observation. Licensing Officer observed that an immunization status is not kept for 3 children.

  A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

  Observation. Licensing observed the change mats in two of the classrooms were cracked and ripped which is concerning as this may cause cross contamination and the spread of illnesses.

  Maintenance of Equipment: A log is kept of all inspections, maintenance and repairs. [Director of Licensing Standard of Practice - Safe Play Space]

  Observation. Licensing observed the a log was not being kept for inspections, maintenance and repairs in each of the classrooms.

  Prior to employing staff the manager has met with each person and has obtained the appropriate documentation. [CCLR Sec. 19(1)]

  Observation. Licensing observed the following items were missing when reviewing the staff files: - one staff - resume, verification of certificate, - one staff - first aid certificate - one staff - immunization

  Implementation of the fire drill system is practiced at least once each month, and implementation of the emergency plan is practiced at least once each year. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(b)(c)]

  Observation. Licensing observed that the facility has been conducting emergency fire drills each month, but had not practiced an emergency drill in the past year.

• HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE CONTROL / Health and HygieneNon-critical

  There is an established program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene. [CCLR Sec. 46(1)]

  Observation. Licensing observed staff who did not remove their gloves in between changing children's diapers. Licensing also observed staff did not have a child wash their hand after their diaper was changed.

  Observation. Licensing observed staff do not have access to reliable communication equipment in an emergency.

  Observation. Licensing observed that there were children's files with missing medical insurance plan numbers and medical practitioner numbers.

  All persons over the age of 12 that are ordinarily present on the premises while children are present are of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for each person. [CCLR Sec 20]

  Observation. Licensing observed a educator's file did not include a criminal record check.
