    Furniture or equipment for sleeping is used by only one child at a time, is clean and comfortable, and is appropriate for the size, age and development of the children intended to use it. [CCLR Sec. 15(2)]

    Observation. LO observed that the children's nap mats were stacked vertically, allowing the bedding to touch from mat to the next which poses a risk of cross contamination.

    Observation. In the outdoor play space, LO observed that a pink riding toy appears to be in poor repair. The plastic basket on the back is broken and cracked which poses a potential for an injury to occur.

    Observation. LO observed that the records for one child were missing. LO observed that a child's records indicate that they have a nut allergy; however, the records do not include instructions from the child's parent about course of action to take if a reaction occurs.

    Behavioural guidance is appropriate to the age and development of each child. [CCLR Sec.51(1)(a)]

    Observation. LO observed the following: -The manager lifted and moved a crying child from the front entrance to the nap room without coming down to his level, acknowledging his feelings or comforting him -A second child who was crying followed the manager and child into the unlit nap room and the manager closed the door. A staff stated that the two children were taken into the nap room so other children would not become upset. -LO observed that while in the nap room, the two children appeared to be come increasingly upset and continued to cry as they stood by the nap room door. The manager did not appear to comfort the children or use strategies to help the children calm. -Several times during the inspection the manager physically directed one of the upset children by holding his forearm.

    Observation. LO observed a child's records indicated that the child required an EpiPen; however, the manager did not know if one was on site. The manager contacted the child's parent and was informed that the EpiPen was located in the child's backpack which was located outside the front entrance.

    Observation. LO observed the following: - Unsecured blind cords accessible by children in the indoor play space and in the nap room - Several bottles of hand sanitizer and sunscreen on a shelf and insecticide in an unsecured cabinet in the outdoor space, accessible to children - An unsecured floor lamp with an unsecured cord next to a child's bed in the nap room. The lamp was removed during the inspection - A large kitchen knife in a bowl on the counter top accessible by children. The knife was removed during the inspection - A liquid air freshener on the counter top and a bottle of insecticide on the floor in the washroom, both accessible by children. These were removed during the inspection - Cleaning gloves and a used sponge on the toilet tank accessible by children. These were removed during the inspection
