  Furniture or equipment for sleeping is used by only one child at a time, is clean and comfortable, and is appropriate for the size, age and development of the children intended to use it. [CCLR Sec. 15(2)]

  Observation. During today's inspection, Licensing Officer observed that the children's nap cots, along with the children’s bedding, were stacked on top of one another which poses a risk of cross contamination.

  The certificates, or copies of certificates, of early childhood educators and assistants are prominently displayed in the facility. [CCLR 11(4)]

  Observation. Licensing Officer observed that certificates, or copies of certificates, of early childhood educators and assistants are not prominently displayed for 2 staff

• MEDICATION / MedicationNon-critical

  Medications that staff have agreed to administer are readily accessible to staff and are administered in the correct dosage at the correct times. [CCLR Sec. 53(1)]

  Observation. Licensing Officer observed medication for a child to be administered by staff did not have a Request for Administration of Medication form on file. In addition, the medication did not have a label which includes the name of the child, name of the medication, prescription number, dosage and time to be administered and the expiry date.

  The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

  Observation. Top of the landing on the upper level of the facility, Licensing Officer observed 4 yellow non-slip tiles appear to be lifting which poses a tripping hazard.

• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES / Emergency Training and EquipmentNon-critical

  There is an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency. [CCLR Sec. 22(1)(b)]

  Observation. On the main and upper level of the facility, Licensing Officer observed two fire extinguishers which have expired and are in need of a service

  A record for each child containing a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(i)]; A record for each child containing the date of enrolment in the facility is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(b)]; A record for each child containing the name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(d)]; A record for each child containing the name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(a)]

  Observation. Licensing Officer observed the following: -photographs of 2 children appear to be outdated -date of enrolment is not kept for 1 child -emergency contact is not kept for 2 children -medical insurance plan number is not kept for 2 children -immunization status is not kept for 10 children

  The licensee has not obtained a criminal record check for all persons ordinarily present on the premises. [CCLR Sec. (20)(1)]

  Observation. While the facility has obtained criminal record checks for all staff, Licensing Officer observed criminal record checks on file for 2 staff are addressed to a College.

  Children are provided with a comprehensive and coordinated program of indoor and outdoor activities that is designed for the development and care of the children, and is appropriate for the age and development of the children. [CCLR Sec. 44(1)(a)(b)(c) and Schedule(G)]

  Observation. Originally found out of compliance on April 22, 2024. Licensing observed their was limited outdoor activities on the upper level playground designed for the development and age of the children in care.

  Employees have access to reliable communications equipment in an emergency. [CCLR Sec. 22(4)]

  Observation. Licensing observed the employees do not have access to reliable communication equipment in an emergency.

  A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

  Observation. Licensing observed the overhead cupboards in the children's washroom present a risk of heavy items falling and injuring a child.

  Equipment, furniture and supplies are located so as not to block or hamper exits in the case of fire or other emergency. [CCLR Sec. 15(1)(b)]

  Observation. Licensing observed the fire exit on the main level entering the playground had been blocked.

  The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

  Observation. Licensing observed the licensee had completed renovation to the fence that has created entrapment spaces in the design.

  Observation. Licensing observed on the upper level limited outdoor activities, which were the appropriate age and development of children.

  The licensee keeps a current record for each child showing the information required. [CCLR Sec. 57]

  Observation. Licensing observed children's emergency card information, which did not include a contact for the medical practitioner or the child's medical insurance number.

No violations recorded at this inspection.

• Licensing / DOLSOP /Active PlayNon-critical

  The Director of Licensing Standard of Practice - is implemented and met. [DOLSOP September 2017 and Section 4(1)(e)of the CCALA]

  Observation. Licensing observed that the program was not following the schedule provided to licensing for review. The Licensee is offering a variety of programs which is at the same time as noted in their activity calendar and affects the required outdoor time for children enrolled in the program.

  Observation. Licensing observed files which had been copied from another facility, which are being used for this facility. Licensing also observed files, which did not have the Medical Insurance number or Immunization status included in the file.
