  • PHYSICAL, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHING / EnvironmentNon-critical

The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

Observation. LO talked to Licensee Contact about some of the maintenance issues that have been rectified with temporary solutions. LO recommends a long term plan in place to address issues as they arise. It may be helpful to have a clipboard or book for staff to note areas that need addressing. For example, the cover for the back of the toilet, while it has been fixed with duct tape, this is a temporary solution. The trim at the back and sides of the sinks, also have a temporary solution. Also encourage staff to throw out items that are broken or in need of repair.

  • PHYSICAL, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHING / Play Area, Materials and EquipmentNon-critical

The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

Observation. It has been noted in previous reports, that the outdoor space will require an ongoing plan to ensure is it maintained and is free from harm. Over time, the outdoor area has begun to slope and the pavement has large cracks in it. It is also concerning that the fence is on an angle into the space. There is a deck that appears to have widespread discoloration and stains with surface damage and loose floorboards that are creaking as you walk. A long term and short term plan should be put in place to address these issues.
