    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. There appears to be ongoing maintenance at the facility. LO recommends that the facility put a maintenance log book in place as there are some areas in all rooms that could use addressing. These areas include: door edges wearing, bathroom doorknob rusty, steps stools require cleaning, walls and floors have chips / dirt / tape.

    The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

    Observation. There are areas in the outdoor space that require addressing such as - peeling in the slide hill, broken fencing, debris, weeds, thorny branches, exposed piping, latches not easy to use.

    For each child requiring extra support, the licensee keeps a current care plan showing the required information. [CCLR Sec. 58(1)(2)]

    Observation. LO observed numerous Care plans throughout the facility. As discussed, some appeared to be missing information, have confusing information, and were not accurate for the needs of the child. There was also a medication form that did not show when medications were given and by whom. Care plans must also be updated annually with the parent. LO attached information regarding using Epi Pen over Benadryl and seizure care plan.

    Observation. There are multiple rooms for this age group, the following items were noted as either needing cleaning, repair or removing hazard: - numerous step stools appear to require cleaning, as children use their hands to move these items. - a sink is broken within JK3A bathroom - cleaning product is accessible under a sink in the playroom - under the bathroom sink, garbage bags are accessible - it is important to note that there is clutter throughout each of the rooms, which is taking away from the usable floor space and may reduce the space and capacity for each room.
