    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. There are two rooms being used for this age group. The equipment in both rooms is wearing / breaking with a lot of the equipment not appearing appropriate for the age group. There are boxes / puzzles / games /etc. that are broken and ripped. With additional storage / cupboards that are not secure. Cleaning supplies (broom / mop) are laying by the entry door and could be a tripping hazard. It is recommended that both spaces are de-cluttered and new equipment / toys are brought in. There was also chipped paint and maintenance concerns.

    Observation. In Classroom 2, LO observed the following: -along one wall of the classroom there are 5 unsecured storage cabinets. On top of the cabinets there are 4 storage bins containing program materials and supplies. The unsecured cabinets and storage of the bins poses a risk of harm to children in care. -a section of the children's play space appears to be blocked off and not accessible to children. The floor space and the children's shelving units are being used as a storage space to store program resources, materials, and seasonal items. The top of the shelving units contain multiple storage bins that are stacked vertically which poses a risk of harm to children in care if they were tip and and fall.

    Observation. LO observed a folding chair that appears to be in poor repair. The seam on the chair is ripped and torn exposing the inner foam material. Discussion took place with manager with regards to the chair not being in good repair and no longer easy to clean. Manager advised that the plan is remove the chair from the program.
