  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. The following was observed: > The latch of the gate at the top of the stairs leading to the backyard is broken. > One crib had multiple chipped areas.

  Corrective action. Please ensure equipment are in good repair.

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

  Observation. There was no record of last years earthquake drill.

  Corrective action. The Manager said she will ensure earthquake drills are recorded.

• STAFFING

  The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.

  Observation. 3 individuals have expired criminal record checks.

  Corrective action. Please apply to renew Criminal Record Checks.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Six children were present today, but none were signed in on the attendance record. The manager corrected this during inspection.

  Corrective action. Manager said children's arrivals will be documented daily in the attendance log.

  A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection, there was one container of Lysol disinfectant wipes accessible to the children.This is a repeat contravention.

  Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to their health.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

  Observation. Upon review of 4 children's files, 1 file did not contain a practitioners name or phone number. This is a repeat contravention.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the children's files are complete.
