    Observation. All of the fire extinguishers in the building required to be serviced.

    Corrective action. The Manager will have the fire extinguishers serviced.

    A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

    Observation. There were no fire drill records for any programs last month.

    Corrective action. The Manager advised she will monitor to ensure the fire drills are being recorded.

    Observation. The 30 months to school age program was missing record of last months sign in sheet from Nov 13th onward.

    Corrective action. The Manager advised that children were signed in and out and she will look for the record.

    Observation. All staff files that were reviewed were missing record of certificate validation.

    Corrective action. The Manager advised that she will validate all certificates.

    Observation. During inspection one staff’s records was unavailable at the facility. Manager emailed this staff's documentation to Licensing after the inspection

    Corrective action. Staff records must be accessible upon request within a reasonable time.

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

    Observation. During inspection Licensing reviewed four staff files. One staff file was missing evidence that references were verified. Manager stated that she did verify this staff’s references but is unsure why the documentation is not available in the staff file. This is repeat contravention from routine inspection # WBET-BZDQR9 dated March 23, 2021.

    Corrective action. Please make sure all staff files are complete before they start employment.

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

    Observation. One staff person does not have a criminal record check completed through the Criminal Record Review agency in Victoria. That staff person currently has a clear criminal record check from the RCMP on file at the facility. Manager stated that criminal record check has been applied through the Criminal Record Review agency in Victoria and they are still awaiting the results.

    Corrective action. Please ensure all staff persons have a criminal record check done through the Criminal Record Review Agency in Victoria.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Files for five staff were reviewed. The manager stated all staff have had their references checked although two staff files have no evidence of references being checked.

    Corrective action. Please make sure all staff have evidence of references being verified. The manager stated she will make notes when she calls references and keep them in the staff file.
