    Observation. Some sleeping mats from the under 36 months and 30 months to school age programs were torn.

    Corrective action. Please ensure the equipment used by the children are in good repair.

    Observation. One of the IT rooms is staffed with 2 ECE's and one ECE Assistant on Mondays. As per Schedule E, an IT needs to be on-site at all times.

    Corrective action. Please ensure appropriate staff to child qualifications.

    Observation. In the toddler program, the children's bedding were kept on the mats and the mats were stored on top of each other.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed a combination of 6 staff files from the under 36 months and 30 months to school age programs. Upon review, Licensing observed that 2 criminal record check clearance letters were not site specific. The Manager advised that the applications were sent for the sharing process.

    Corrective action. Please ensure criminal record check clearance letters are site specific. Please advise once received.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. The following was observed in regards to equipment not in good repair: > In the infant program, two playards had holes in the mesh. A staff member removed the playards and replaced them with extra sleeping mats. > In the 30 months to school age program, multiple sleeping mats had holes along the edges, exposing the foam. A staff member advised that they will address the tears until they receive new sleeping mattresses.

    Corrective action. Please ensure furniture and equipment are in good repair when the children are in care.

    Observation. In an email sent to families, it was messaged that this summer, Preschool was offered out of Room B. This room is Licensed for a 30 months to school age program and not Preschool. The advertising needs to reflect the service type that the program is licensed for.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that advertising and messaging reflects the program being offered.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed the staffing schedule and determined the following: > This month, an ECE Assistant was scheduled to open in the under 36 months program when ITE staff were available. As per Schedule E of the CCLR, there needs to be an ITE in the opening and closing shifts. > This month, an ECE Assistant was scheduled to close in the 30 months to school age program. As per Schedule E of the CCLR, there needs to be a ECE in the opening and closing shifts. An ECE Assistant can work in those shifts if the ECE is absent for less than 30 days.

    Corrective action. Please ensure appropriate staff to child ratios at all times.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed the attendance record and observed that on September 16, 2020 there were 26 children in care in the 30 months to school age program (Room A). The manager advised that the program was over ratio for 20 minutes.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that the program does not exceed a max capacity of 25 children.
