  A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.

  Observation. The solution for cleaning the tables does not have a DIN number. Discussions were held regarding effective disinfectants.

  Corrective action. The Licensee said that she will find an alternate cleaning solution.

  A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. The fire extinguisher required servicing in January of this year. The Licensee said she will have it re-serviced by tomorrow.

  Corrective action. Please ensure you have a valid fire extinguisher.

  Observation. Upon review of facility records, Licensing observed that on February 25, 2021 there were five children under the age of four years old. As per Schedule E of the CCLR, there can only be four children under the age of four years old (granted that there is no child in care under twelve months of age).

  Corrective action. Please ensure compliance with age requirements as per Schedule E of the CCLR.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must ensure that each employee (a) is trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and emergency plan described in subsection (1), including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan.

  Observation. The fire extinguisher required to be serviced in March 2020.

  Corrective action. Please ensure fire extinguishers are serviced on or before the service date.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing conducted an inspection of the physical facility and observed that a mirror was propped against the wall in one of the nap rooms. Licensing expressed concerns of the mirror tipping in the event of an earthquake or a child moving it if they crawled out of the play pen. The licensee removed the mirror during the inspection.

  Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (d) written policies and procedures that are intended to guide employees in the care and supervision of children.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed policies and procedures and observed that the active play policy was missing.

  Corrective action. As per DOLSOP, please develop an active play policy.
