    A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

    Observation. The water in the emergency supplies is 3 years past the best before date.

    Corrective action. Please ensure safe drinking water is available for the children in the event of an emergency.

  • RECORDS AND REPORTING

    A licensee must keep current records for each child showing (a) the information set out in subsection (2), (b) if applicable, the information and agreements set out in subsections (2.1) and (2.2), and (c) the consents referred to in subsection (3).

    Observation. There was no medication on-site for a child who has a care plan. The staff said that the child no longer requires the medication. However, the information in the child's file was not updated to reflect this change.

    Corrective action. The child's file needs to be updated to reflect current information.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.

    Observation. There was no photograph available for a child. The Manager keeps photos on a phone but the Manager was not on-site during the inspection. This means photos are not always accessible.

    Corrective action. The Manager is to advise on the system for ensuring photos are available to staff at all times.

    Observation. the wall on one of the posts is in need of repair, and there is a bracket sticking out of the wall

  • HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE

    A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.

    Observation. The practice has been for the children's food containers to be left on the tables after snack and until lunch time (while staff and children are at the playground). This means that children will be eating food that has been left out for more than 2 hours. Licensing also observed opened lunch containers and yogurt containers.

    Corrective action. Please ensure food is stored safely to prevent food born illnesses.

    A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.

    Observation. Both staff who work in the closing shift have expired first aid certificates.

    Corrective action. Please submit a plan to address this contravention.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed 3 staff files and one staff was missing record of a criminal record check clearance letter (CRC). The Director advised that this staff has been working since Aug under her supervision and that she has not been working alone with children.The Director advised an application will be submitted for the CRC by today.

    Corrective action. Please ensure the staff applies for a CRC through the Criminal Record Check Review Program,
