Observation. There were several bottles / containers of cleaners and hand sanitizers accessible to children on the kitchen counter. The second bedroom that is now also being used for nap was very full of storage items, the bed and other furniture were piled high with items.

Observation. The crib available for the child under 12 months of age is broken with an ill fitting mattress. There were several toys in side the crib.

Observation. The outdoor play space has a large stack of toys and equipment covered by a large tarp. Children have access to this area yet staff would have a difficult type monitoring whether or not children have entered under the covered area. Should children access under the tarp there would be risk of items falling or a child becoming injured or unnoticed.

Observation. The licensee has cleared some of the grassy outdoor area for children's use and made available some of the plastic equipment for use. There is still a large pile of toys / equipment under a tarp on the grassy area. This was discussed with the licensee and it was explained that this is not safe as the equipment / toys could fall on a child, a child could easily access the underside of the tarp and become trapped and or / not be noticed.

There are several areas of the home that are not suitable for children, the doors to these rooms were open or there was no gate / restrictor present.

There is one play structure that is being used for storage and would not be safe for children's use. There is a play house that is full of storage items and not safely accessible to children. The inside play are designated for child's use is very full of toys / items limiting the children's space and ability to move freely while playing.

Observation. The last recorded fire drill was August. There was no indication of an emergency drill. The drills that were recorded indicated that they were practiced at approximately the same time of day. The Licensee indicated that this was the easiest time to do so. LO indicated that the program would benefit from practicing at a variety of times and to exit from a variety of places in the home as one cannot predict the time or the location of a potential fire or emergency.
