  Emergency exits and fire drill system are approved by a local Fire Marshal. [CCLR Sec. 22(1)(a)]

  Observation. The fire extinguisher in the shared kitchen, used by the GCC (30 Months to School Age) and GCC (Under 36 Months) programs, did not have a tag indicating its most recent or upcoming servicing date. Discussion occurred with the Manager to obtain documentation showing when the next servicing is due.

  For each child requiring extra support, the licensee keeps a current care plan showing the required information. [CCLR Sec. 58(1)(2)]

  Observation. A child’s prescription asthma medication did not have a care plan or a medication administration form. A discussion occurred with staff that a care plan should be created with the parents and kept with the medication to provide the necessary information if the child experiences asthma symptoms while in care. Licensing will provide an asthma care plan template.

  A record for each child containing the name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(d)]

  Observation. Licensing observed that four children’s records were missing an emergency contact. Discussion occurred with the Manager regarding the CCLR requirement that an emergency contact is “a person who is to be contacted in place of a parent if a parent cannot be reached,” as outlined in section 57(2).
