Observation. LO noted the retractable gate that was part of the condition for using the rooftop playground was removed. The retractable gate was imposed as to mitigate risk to injuries from potentially falling down the outdoor stairs located in proximity to the outdoor play space main entrance. The licensee stated that the retractable gate has to be replaced due to safety concerns. A new retractable gate was placed on order at the time of the inspection and a safety supervision plan has been implemented until the new retractable gate will be installed

The temporary solution is not suitable as the umbrellas are not reliable for a roof top playground and were not stable. the BC Area Director informed that are waiting to hear back from the contractor for a scheduled work on site. The provision of shade to be installed as per the plan submitted to licensing has been purchased. Items require installation.

Observation. Licensing observed the following: - the storage and laundry room doors located on the hallway were wide open; cleaning supplies and other various items were stored that children should not have access. A sign was posted on each door stating "keep this door closed";several staff passed by and did not closed the doors until licensing had requested to have the issue addressed. - one carpet was visible stained and debris was present on top of it - some walls had chipped paint -one baseboard in the children's washroom was loose and was laying on the floor - a garbage bin was full located inside the outdoor storage were outdoor play equipment is stored - a damaged large umbrella and other broken play equipment was placed behind the outdoor storage unit accessible to children

Observation. Daily attendance was not current. When Licensing officer arrived at the facility, the daily attendance list indicated there were 13 children present, however, Licensing observed 15 children in attendance. This issue remains outstanding.
