Corrective action. Ensure the following: - Beddings are not touching to avoid spread of body fluids etc. - A healthy and safe environment at all times for children

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Outdoor play space (OPS) inspections & documentation are not conducted regularly.
Corrective action. OPS inspections must be documented daily (general check for hazards), monthly (detailed check of landscaping, fencing, equipment), & annually (detailed audit of the OPS, landscaping, & all equipment).
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - LICENSING
A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
Observation. An employee's ECE certificate was not displayed.
Corrective action. All current employees' ECE/ECEA certificates must be displayed conspicuously.
10070 - CCLR s.11(4) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. A few children lacked their medical practitioner's information.
Corrective action. If a child lacks a family physician, their walk-in/urgent care clinic or hospital information is sufficient.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.
Observation. A child lacked a photo in their file & the HiMama app.
Corrective action. All requirements of CCLR s.57(2) must be obtained by children's 1st day of care.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation. REPEAT VIOLATION from FIR #CGEE-CBXN2D (23/Feb/2022): Several children's start dates were missing or incomplete (month/year only).
Corrective action. Complete start dates (month/day/year) are required by children's 1st day of care.
19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must have in writing from a parent, and maintain at the community care facility, consent (a) to call a medical practitioner or ambulance in case of accident or illness if the parent cannot immediately be reached.
Observation. A child lacked their parents' emergency consent to call 911.
Corrective action. All requirements of CCLR s.57(3) must be obtained by children's 1st day of care.

12140 - CCLR s.19(4)(a) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. An employee's CRC has not been obtained prior to her 1st day of employment. Another employee holds an RCMP CRC.
Corrective action. Employees must hold a valid BC Ministry of Justice CRC; otherwise, they cannot work alone w/ children or assist w/ diapering/toileting.
12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - STAFFING
Immediately after a person who was the subject of a character reference is no longer employed by or ordinarily present at the community care facility, a licensee must return all character references to the person, or destroy the character references.
Observation. Several former employees' files still held their character references.

Observation. Records of monthly fire drill practices & annual emergency drill practices before Sep/2021 have been discarded; however, the manager stated that fire drills are practiced monthly & emergency drills are practiced annually.
Corrective action. Records respecting compliance w/ CCLR s.22(2)(b)(c) must be kept for ≥ 1 year.
