  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. One staff's CRC record on file had an expiry date of Sept. 10, 2025. The facility manager communicated to Licensing today that the renewal is in process and has been submitted to the Criminal Records Review Board.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Licensing observed several wood pieces leaning against the wall in the hallway, which children pass when going to the outdoor play area or the other classroom. These items may potentially fall on children.

  Corrective action. Today the manager said to Licensing that the facility is in the process of removing these wood pieces leaning against the wall to ensure the safety of children.

• A licensee must (a) ensure that behavioural guidance is appropriate to the age and development of the child who is receiving the guidance.

  Observation. Two staff used inappropriate guidance with children, as they would grab onto children's arm and push them.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that behavioral guidance is appropriate.

• A licensee must ensure that the food and drink given to a child is sufficient in quantity and quality to meet the developmental needs of the child, having regard to (a) the child's age.

  Observation. Some children did not have access to water during a walk to a park.

  Corrective action. Please ensure children are provided with adequate drinking water.

  Observation. Objects were in a bin on a shelve above children and a tree was placed on a chair and it had not been secured.

  Observation. Repeat violation from FIR #CGEE: - C3YNAG (11/Jun/2021) - CEDRBU (13/May/2022) CCFL reviewed 8 children's files: 1 lacked his immunization status & another lacked her PHN.

  Corrective action. All requirements of s. 57 must be obtained by children's 1st day of care.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): CCFL reviewed all employees' files. An employee had 2/3 references in her file.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): CCFL reviewed all employees' files. 2 employees lacked CRCs.

  Corrective action. The manager emailed the CRRP to obtain these employees' CRCs since they were applied for awhile ago, but not sent to the manager. The CRRP emailed them to the licensee today.

  Observation. *REPEAT VIOLATION FROM FIR #ANAI-BM7SZ6 (27/Feb/2020)* CCFL reviewed all employees' files. The manager & an employee held expired CRCs.

  Corrective action. Valid CRRP CRCs must be onsite for each employee @ all times. The manager & this employee can't work alone w/ children or assist w/ diapering/toileting until they've received new CRCs.

An employee's certificate hadn't been validated.

  Observation. Upon a review of four staff files, Licensing observed that one staff member's criminal record check was expired. Upon discussion with the manager it was noted that renewal is in process and that the staff member does not work alone with the children.

  Corrective action. Ensure staff records are current.
