A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

Observation. Licensing observed the following outdoors: - broken shed door - 2 long wooden planks (one with a protruding screw) detached from the base of the fence (item corrected during inspection)

Corrective action. Ensure that these items are repaired.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

Observation. Licensing observed one child's file was missing the medical number.

Corrective action. Ensure the file is complete.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. Licensing observed the following: - One child's file missing the doctor / clinic name and phone number - Two children's file have the parents as the emergency contact

Corrective action. Ensure the file is complete. Emergency contacts should be different from the contact information of parents.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.

Observation. Licensing observed that three children did not have a photo available on file.

Corrective action. Ensure that the file is complete with current photos of children.

In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.

Observation. Licensing reviewed staff files and observed that one file was not available on-site, and only the professional certificate and first aid certificate were at the facility.

Corrective action. Ensure that the file is complete and available on-site.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

Observation. Licensing observed one staff file having only one character reference.

Corrective action. Ensure staff files have at least 2 character references.
