• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Above the diaper changing surface, there is a piece of metal protruding from the wall. There is a potential for a child to injure themselves on this. The Manager explained that the plastic bag holder had broken off and this is why the metal is exposed. During the inspection, the Manager completely covered the piece of metal with foam.

  Corrective action. The Manager will work on fixing the plastic bag holder as a permanent solution to this. Please have this corrected by Friday, August 2, 2024

• OR SUPERVISION

  Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.

  Observation. A child who turned 3 years old at the beginning of the month is still attending the program without an approved retention. As per the Manager, the child will be moving to another facility next month. Licensing explained that a retention is required from the time the child turns 3 years old until they move up into the next program or to another facility (if there is no 3-5 program).

  Corrective action. The Manager will submit a temporary retention request to Licensing.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  Observation. 2/4 staff missing immunization statuses.

  Corrective action. The Manager will follow up with obtaining this information for both staff.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must ensure that each employee (a) is trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and emergency plan described in subsection (1), including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan.

  Observation. Both fire extinguishers are over due for servicing.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the fire extinguishers are serviced.
