A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

Observation. Peeling paint on the wall beside a toilet in one of the washrooms, which is accessible to children.

Corrective action. Ensure that this item is repaired.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. Items for consumption in the emergency supplies bin had an expiry date of Januray 2023.

Corrective action. Ensure that the items for consumption are replenished with new supplies.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.

Observation. Licensing observed that one child did not have the start date on file.

Corrective action. Ensure the file is complete.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that one class today did not record the children who are absent.

Corrective action. Ensure to record absent children daily.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. Licensing observed the following: - 2 children's files were missing the name of the doctor / clinic and the phone number - 1 child's file did not have an emergency contact on-file (only the phone numbers of parents were available)

Corrective action. Ensure the files are complete. Emergency contacts should be different from the contact information of the parents.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. Licensing observed the following: - CRC documentation for 2 staff are missing on file - CRC documentation for 2 staff are not site specific

Corrective action. Ensure CRC documentation is available on-site and up to date.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

Observation. Licensing observed that 3 staff files did not have a validation record on file.

Corrective action. Ensure the file is complete.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

Observation. Licensing observed that one staff did not have references on file.

Corrective action. Ensure the file is complete.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

Observation. Licensing observed the following: - 2 staff immunization records are missing on file - 1 staff immunization record is incomplete

Corrective action. Ensure to have the immunization records available on-site and complete.
