A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to (a) a covered container for soiled clothing.

Observation. A covered container is not available for diapers.

Corrective action. The facility will obtain a covered container to dispose of soiled diapers.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): 1/6 children with an unclear start date. Upon notifying staff, the complete start date was documented during the inspection.

Corrective action. The facility will ensure start dates are clearly indicated.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. 1/6 children missing doctor's name and phone number. Walk-in clinic information is sufficient.

Corrective action. The facility will obtain this information for the child.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. One staff with a valid criminal record check addressed to another organization.

Corrective action. The facility will ensure a criminal record check addressed to this facility is obtained.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

Observation. Certificate validation from the ECE Registry is missing for 1 staff.

Corrective action. The facility will obtain this information for the staff.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (c) a record of the person's work history.

Observation. 1 staff missing a resume.

Corrective action. The facility will obtain this information for the staff.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

Observation. 1 staff missing immunization status.

Corrective action. The facility will obtain this information for the staff.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. 1/3 children is missing doctor information and emergency contact. The Manager has previously connected with the family to obtain an appropriate emergency contact. Licensing and the Manager discussed walk-in clinic information being sufficient for doctor information.

Corrective action. The Manager will follow up with the family to obtain the missing information.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (h) any special instruction respecting the child's diet, medication, participation in a program of activities, or other matter relevant to the child's care, (i) given by the child's parent to the licensee in writing.

Observation. 1 child with a documented allergy and no written instructions from the parents regarding related symptoms and follow-up action for the facility in case the child is exposed to the allergen.

Corrective action. The Manager will follow up with the family to obtain information about the symptoms and action to be followed by the facility related to if there is exposure to the allergen.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. 1 staff without a site specific criminal record check. The criminal record check is valid, but from another organization.

Corrective action. The Manager will request to share the current criminal record check with her organization.
