• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation) Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection of 3 staff files, one was missing the ECEA validation

  Corrective action. Please ensure all staff employed who hold a certificate have it verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed departure times missing for some children on multiple days of attendance. The staff recorded the information while licensing was on site.

  Corrective action. Ensure a record is kept indicating for each day, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed 8 children’s files and noted 1 did not contain record of immunization status.

  Corrective action. Ensure a record is kept for each child showing immunization status.

  Corrective action. Ensure character references are obtained prior to employment.
