- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed a playpen in use that had holes in the mesh siding and appeared dirty.
Corrective action. The manager stated a new playpen is available and she will discontinue use of the older one.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed vitamins and rubbing alcohol in cabinets within reach of children
Corrective action. The manager removed the items to store out of reach of children
11200 - CCLR s.17 - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Licensing observed expired water and no emergency additional evacuation supplies/food.
Corrective action. The manager stated she will replace the water and has asked parents to provide comfort kits. She will also include additional supplies are available to respond to an emergency evacuation.

Observation. Date of enrolment was not recorded for one or more children.
Corrective action. Staff said date of enrolment will be recorded.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. A record of MSP number was not obtained for one or more children.
Corrective action. Staff said the MSP number will be recorded.

Observation. The facility’s active play and screen time policies were unavailable for review. The staff was unsure if they were developed.
Corrective action. Ensure an active play and screen use policy are developed and available for review.
13060 - CCLR s.56(1)(d) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. There were no times of arrival recorded for children present today. A conversation on the importance of documenting time of arrival was had.
Corrective action. Ensure the time of arrival is indicated for each day children are present.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing reviewed 6 children’s records and noted 2 were missing date of enrolment. The licensee recorded the information while licensing was on site.
Corrective action. Ensure a record is kept for each child showing the date of the enrolment in the community care facility.
19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - STAFFING
A licensee must ensure that each employee (a) is trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and emergency plan described in subsection (1), including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan.
Observation. Licensing noted the fire extinguisher was due for servicing in 2020.
Corrective action. Ensure fire extinguishers are maintained yearly.
