    Observation. Licensing reviewed 8 children's files and record of gender was missing for 5 children.

    Corrective action. The assistant manager said that they will add this information to the registration forms.

    Observation. 4 staff were missing record of criminal record check (CRC) clearance letters through the criminal record review program (CRRP). Some of the staff had CRC's through the RCMP.

    Corrective action. The assistant manager said she will have the staff renew their CRC's through the CRRP.

    Observation. One staff member was missing their file. The Executive Director confirmed that all records were obtained and advised that the file must have been misplaced. The only record available for review was the staff member's certificate of education.

    Corrective action. Please ensure records are available for review during an inspection.

    Observation. Licensing observed that there was no record of parent notification for some of the incidents that were recorded in the minor incident log book.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed 4 staff files and observed that 2 staff were missing the appropriate criminal record check clearance letters. One staff's criminal record check was not site specific and the other staff's criminal record check was conducted through the RCMP. The executive director advised that an application has already been sent to the Criminal Record Check Review Program (CRRP) for one of the staff.

    Corrective action. Please ensure CRC's are conducted through the CRRP and are site specific.

  • MEDICATION

    If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.

    Observation. Licensing observed that one out of the two medical consent forms reviewed did not have sufficient information. It was indicated on the form that the medication was to be administered "as needed." If specific times are not provided, staff would need be aware of what signs or symptoms to look for as indicators for administering the medication.

    Corrective action. Please ensure parents provide information around the times or symptoms to look for when administering medication to their children.
