Corrective action. The staff removed the chemicals and said the cabinets will be checked daily to ensure chemicals are stored out of reach of children
11200 - CCLR s.17 - OR SUPERVISION
Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation. The staff said the programs combine once a week after 4 pm.
Corrective action. The staff said they will change their schedule to only combine for the last 30 minutes of the day.

Observation. Fire and emergency records for the school age program were unable to be obtained for 4 out of the last 8 months. The staff said they were not practiced.
Corrective action. The staff confirmed the fire and emergency drills will be reviewed with staff and practiced as required.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Upon inspection, licensing observed the following: - A pile of long cords in the GCC School Age program accessible to children - A long unplugged cord coming out from the piano in the GCC School Age program accessible to children - A long blind cord hanging at children's level in the GCC School Age program - A loose fan cord accessible to children in the GCC 30 months to School Age classroom. - A plugged in cord coming down from the air conditioner that is located in a high window had tape peeling off the wall in the GCC 30 months to School age program. The concern is the cord can be pulled and cause the air conditioner to fall.
Corrective action. Ensure cords are not accessible to children.

Observation. Upon inspection licensing observed a child who used the washroom not dry their hands due to paper towel being stored in the GCC School Age program washroom out of reach.
Corrective action. The acting manager said she will have the paper towel placed in an area children can reach.

A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
Observation. Licensing observed the following: - A small children's wooden picnic bench was visibly broken, with screws protruding, accessible to children in the outdoor play area - A wall pipe outdoors appeared to have a leak and is in need of repair, as there was moisture and discolouration along the pipe and on the wall
Corrective action. Staff moved the picnic table to be inaccessible while licensing was on site. The Manager said there is a plan for the pipe to be fixed.
11190 - CCLR s.16(4)(b) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon arrival, licensing observed a door was propped open in the hallway, which contained multiple cleaning products and materials. Staff said the door was broken, however made the cleaning products inaccessible while licensing was on site.
Corrective action. Manager said the door will be fixed and products will be inaccessible moving forward.
