- HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The following was observed: -Nap mats and bedding were stored stacked on top of each other in a crib. -Diaper change mat had a large rip, preventing proper sanitization between use.
Corrective action. The Manager removed the bed sheets to wash and confirmed bedding will be stored in separate bins and outside of the crib. The diaper mat was repaired and will be checked for rips before use moving forward.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Paint was observed to be peeling in multiple areas of the facility accessible to children. Areas of the facility were observed to be unclean, including walls and door frames.
Corrective action. The director said the areas will be cleaned and the paint will be addressed.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

Observation. Licensing noted the fire extiguisher has not been maintained in the past year.
Corrective action. Ensure the fire extingusher is serviced and maintained once each year.
