  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A hot tub was located in the back play area with the buckles on the lid clipped but not locked. The Licensee locked the hot tub lid on the hot tub during the inspection.

    Corrective action. Ensure the hot tub is inaccessible to children in care.

  • POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

    A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

    Observation. The Licensee said that she completed the fire drills for April and May but did not write them down.

    Corrective action. Ensure that a record is kept for fire drills and emergency drills.

  • HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE

    A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.

    Observation. It was observed that there were sheets over the change mat. The Licensee put a small plastic piece overtop but it would not cover the entire change mat. A conversation regarding cleaning was had as the material was not easily cleaned and would need to be changed each use.

    Corrective action. Ensure that the diaper change mat is easily cleaned between uses.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

    Observation. The Licensee did not have attendance for today. She stated that the other attendance was on a computer.

    Corrective action. Ensure that you have record of arrival and departure time for each child.
