  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

  Observation. LO reviewed five children's files, all of which were missing the gender.

  Corrective action. Staff to obtain information and update children's files.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

  Observation. LO reviewed five children's files, all of which were missing the name and number of a medical practitioner

  Corrective action. Staff to obtain information and update children's files.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: -a dome climber that was less than 3 feet from a cement wall or rock barrier. -shaving cream with a warning label to keep out of reach of children being used with children -emergency equipment including food stored in a suitcase next to a toilet

  Corrective action. Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is maintained. Licensing provided a copy of the Director of Licensing Standard of Practice Safe Play Space.

• HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE

  A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to (a) a covered container for soiled clothing.

  Observation. The facility did not have a covered container for soiled clothing or diapers.

  Corrective action. Ensure that there is a covered container next to the diapering surface.

• MEDICATION

  If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.

  Observation. Medicine for 3 children did not have specific time, or symptoms to be administered to the child.

  Corrective action. Ensure that there is specific time or symptoms to administer medication to the child.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (j) a record of any person who is not permitted access to the child.

  Observation. The facility does not have a record of people not permitted to access the child.

  Corrective action. Ensure that there is a record of persons not permitted to access the child.

• STAFFING

  Despite this section, licensee may employ a person as a volunteer who does not provide care to children or supervise children if the licensee or the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following (c) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one or more volunteers.

  Corrective action. Ensure that Immunization status is obtained.
