  • HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE

    A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Children's teddy bears used during naps were being stored in a single container in the 3-5 classroom

    Corrective action. The manager seperated the teddy bears to prevent potential spread of illness

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed the unsecured suspended electrical cord of a space heater on top of a cubby. The cord was within the reach of children posing a risk of the heater falling if a child were to pull the cord and the heater fell. Two of the electrical outlets on the electical cord were not covered, posing an additional risk.

    Corrective action. The Licensee will ensure that the cord is secured, with outlets covered, or completely in accessible to children.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that each piece of furniture or equipment for sleeping (c) is appropriate for the size, age and development of the children intended to use it. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): An infant sleeps in a play yard with an added mattress, pillow and comforter which is not according to manufacturer's instructions and not safe sleep practice for infants.

    Corrective action. The manager removed the mattress, comforter and pillow during the inspection.
