  • C10.2 - Are children supervised, and are employee to children ratios maintained?Critical

Observation. • C10.2B- Ensure that children are divided into groups with each group having no more than permitted. This contravention remains outstanding. The children are not being divided into the group sizes as licenced (three rooms licensed for 17, 5, & 17). It was clarified that while indoors the group sizes must be maintained; this would include the gym space. Although the maximum group sizes as described in Schedule E are either 24 or 30 (depending on the grades of children in each group) the maximum indoor group size for this facility can't exceed 17 children. While outdoors, if space allows, the groups can combine however, staff to child ratio's must still be maintained. An amendment has been submitted and reviewed by Licensing. Revisions have been requested as there are inconsistencies with in the application documents.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

Observation. • C7.10- Any heated water accessible to children must not be more than 49 degrees Celsius. This contravention remains outstanding. The water temperature exceeds 49°Celsius. An application has been submitted requesting to be exempt from this requirement. The request will be processed by the Facility Licensing Officer. However, at this time, the water must not exceed 49°Celsius. Immediate attention to this matter is required.

  • C10.2 - Are children supervised, and are employee to children ratios maintained?Critical

Observation. It was observed during inspection the group size exceeds the maximum as permitted in Schedule E of the Child Care Regulations. At the time of inspection a total of 36 children were outside playing. In Schedule E all Columns described must meet the following requirements for group sizes and employee to children ratios: Column 1- Care program, Column 2- Maximum group size, Column 3- Children per group, Column 4- Ratio of employees to children in each group. Licensing observed: -The group sizes did not align with the designated capacities for each care program room. -It was unclear which employees were responsible for which children for each care program. -The attendance record was unclear which children belonged to which care program. -A total of three employees were on site at the time of inspection.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

Observation. The hot water in one washroom measured 56 Degrees Celsius. This is a repeat infraction from the previous routine inspection. The facility has a lead in drinking water mitigation plan in place resulting from a test conducted in April 2021. It was disclosed the plan in place is not being followed as the children are only drinking water from the fountain in the hallway. The hallway fountain has not been tested for levels of lead in drinking water.
