1 critical and 11 non-critical findings recorded since 2021.
July 29, 2025Routine Inspection1 critical, 3 non-critical
- C7.2 - Is there adequate and appropriate indoor and outdoor space, materials, and equipment?Critical
Observation. - The bolts that attach the swings to the load-bearing beam on the swing set were loose. To prevent the risk of potential injury to the children, these bolts must be securely attached. *Correct by: August 4/25.*
- C2.1 - Are written policies and procedures in place to guide employees in all matters regarding the care and supervision of children?Non-critical
Observation. - A copy of the fire drill system must be displayed in a prominent place within the facility. Practising and displaying the fire drills monthly shows the plan's effectiveness of its implementation thereby minimizing the risk to children in the event of a fire. *Correct by: July 30/25.* - As per the emergency evacuation plan for the facility, adequate and unexpired supplies needed to respond to any emergency (e.g. flashlight, batteries, blankets, non-perishable food, etc.) were not readily available in the evacuation kit. Having emergency supplies readily available will help to minimize the physical and emotional impact on the children during an emergency. *This contravention was noted on the last routine inspection report.* In addition, some supplies in the first aid kit, to clean the children's minor wounds effectively and to reduce the possibility of infection, were expired. *Correct by: July 31/25.* The Licensee confirmed that the required policies and procedures for the facility had not been revised or updated since the last routine inspection.
- C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical
Observation. - Some of the daily attendance records were missing departure times. Accurate attendance records are important for knowing which children are present and accounted for, especially during emergencies or unexpected situations. Attendance records also help ensure that only authorized persons pick up the children. *This contravention was noted on the last routine inspection report.* *Correct by: July 30/25.* - The log for recording inspections, maintenance and repairs of the outside play space had not been completed since March 2025. Documenting daily, weekly, and monthly checks of the outside play space help identify and address potential hazards like broken toys, worn equipment, or unsafe surfacing before they lead to accidents and injuries. *Correct by: July 30/25.* Other records such as the minor incident log and a sample of child registration/emergency information records were reviewed and they appeared satisfactory.
- C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical
Observation. - The resilient material underneath the swings and at the bottom of the slide appeared compacted and was less than 6 inches. An adequate depth of resilient material underneath fall zone areas, such as underneath swings and slides, helps minimize the risk of potential injuries to the children by absorbing impact. *Correct by August 4/25.*

- C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical
