Observation. - A green ride-on car had cracks in the seat which may potentially pinch or cut the skin of a child's bottom. In order for the children in care to use the green ride-on car, the Licensee must ensure that it is free from hazards and in good repair. *Correct by: May 28, 2025."
- C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical
Observation. - Small objects such as AA batteries, paper clips, etc. were accessible in drawers in the Group Child Care (Under 36 Months) program room. The Licensee must ensure that the children in care do not have access to these potential choking hazards. *Correct by: May 28, 2025*. - Diaper creams were accessible in drawers in the washroom used by the children attending the Group Child Care (Under 36 Months) program. The Licensee must ensure that the children in care do not have access to these medicated creams which instruct the user to "Keep out of reach of children". *Correct by: May 28, 2025*. The required depth for the resilient material underneath the outside climbing equipment and a 6ft clearance around equipment was adequately maintained in the outside play yard.

Observation. - There was no non-perishable food in the evacuation kit as per the Licensee's emergency evacuation plan. In order to prepare for any emergency, the Licensee must ensure that non-perishable food for the children is readily available in the evacuation kit. *Correct by: June 2, 2025.* Fire drills were practiced and recorded monthly as required. The large scale evacuation plan was practiced and recorded annually as required.

Observation. - A staff file was missing an immunization record.
- C2.1 - Are written policies and procedures in place to guide employees in all matters regarding the care and supervision of children?Non-critical
Observation. - As per the emergency plan, ensure that the evacuation kit has an adequate amount of supplies for the total capacity of children in care and enough for approx. 24 hrs. (i.e. unexpired non-perishable food, water, flashlight, batteries, hand sanitizer, etc.). The large scale evacuation annual practice is scheduled to be completed by the staff before the end of 2023. Monthly fire drills were documented and the record was displayed as required.
- C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical
Observation. - Ensure that a 6 ft clearance around any climbing equipment (i.e. slides) is maintained for safe entering and exiting of the equipment. - Ensure a 6 inch depth of resilient material is maintained under fall zone areas such as the bottom of the wooden climber slide. - An electrical outlet in the GCC (30 Mos to SA) program was missing safety covers. *Resolved during the inspection. The Licensing Officer and the manager discussed regularly inspecting first aid kits for any supplies that may be expired and/or that need replenishing.

Observation. - The information in the children's records that states whether or not the Licensee has permission to call for an ambulance is unclear. Clarification in the children's records was needed regarding what constitutes a "medical emergency" and what the parent is giving their permission for the Licensee to do. Other record keeping systems in place such as the daily attendance records, minor incident log, play space inspection log, etc. were reviewed by the Licensing Officer and they appeared satisfactory.

Observation. - The "Little Tykes" workbench in the outside play yard is cracked and requires repair, removal, or replacing. - The outside wooden play kitchen requires repair, removal, or replacing as some of the boards are coming apart and screws are exposed.
- C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical
Observation. - Ensure generic cleaning spray bottles are clearly labelled with its contents. - Ensure fridge temperatures do not exceed 4C to prevent food borne illness. - Resilient material needs to be replenished as it is required to be at least 6 inches deep underneath the fall zone areas of play equipment that is higher than 5ft.
- C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical
Observation. - Ensure staff files contain the required documents upon hiring (i.e. evidence of immunization status and applicable training documents for responsible adults).
