Observation. Upon review of all employee records it was noted that evidence that references were checked was not present for several records. In order to demonstrate that the Licensee has information available to indicate that the person has the personality, temperament and ability to work with children, evidence that references were checked is required. Provide evidence that references have been checked for all employees on or by June 4, 2025. Employee records do not reflect whether employees are fully, partially or not immunized for COVID-19. In order to know which employees could or could not work during a potential COVID-19 outbreak, the status of immunization is required. Notify Licensing that this information has been added to the employee records on or by June 4, 2025.
- C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical
Observation. Upon testing, the hot water registered at 50 degrees Celsius. In order to reduce risk of scalding injuries, hot water must not exceed 49 degrees Celsius. Notify Licensing of reduction of temperature to at most 49 degrees on or by June 4, 2025. The hot water exceeding the maximum allowable temperature was noted on the previous inspection report. The fridge used for two programs in the facility does not have a thermometer present to demonstrate the temperature is maintained between 0-4 degrees Celsius, and no other method of confirming the temperature is in place. In order to reduce risk of food spoilage and potential food borne illnesses it is required that fridges are maintained between 0-4 degrees Celsius. Notify Licensing of the method of confirming the allowable temperature range is maintained on or by June 4, 2025. The door to the furnace/hot water tank/cleaning equipment storage area was unlocked, making this area accessible. Notify Licensing of the method implemented to make this area inaccessible to children in order to reduce risk of access to hazardous materials and to protect children's health and safety, on or by June 4, 2025.

Observation. C3.2A - ECE and ECEA certificates are on file for all employees, however evidence that certificates have been verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry was missing at the time of inspection.

Observation. C1.1G - ECE and ECEA certificates are on file for all employees, however they were not posted in the facility at the time of inspection.
- C9.1 - Are there plans and actions in place to ensure medications are stored and administered properly?Non-critical
Observation. C9.1B - Medication administration forms were missing information and instructions regarding the purpose, amount and time that medication should be administered. (I.e. Tylenol, 'as needed').

Observation. C 7.1A - It was discussed during the inspection that the diaper change surface is being cleaned with baby wipes after each use, however is not being sanitized. Children's bedding was stored in a folded stack and is laundered weekly. Ensure a system is in place for disinfection and sanitization of diapering surfaces and individual storage of children's bedding to prevent illness. C7.1L - Ensure the storage room containing cleaning supplies is inaccessible to children at all times. C7.1O - Heated water accessible to children at the handwashing sink was 50.3° at the time of inspection.

Observation. C4.1E - Some children's records did not contain the name and telephone number of a medical practitioner for children who don't have a family doctor. It was discussed that the Licensee could have the parent provide the name and phone number of a walk-in or urgent care clinic. C4.1l - A record of the amount and time that medication was administered was not kept. C4.1J - Children's emergency cards contained a photo of each child, however was missing other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency. (I.e. height, weight, eye and hair colour, and any distinguishing features (scars, birth marks etc.)

Observation. C3.1C - It was observed that employee files are missing character references and immunization status. The manager stated that character references have been collected but have not been put in the file. An employee file for the manager is also required to be kept at the facility.

Observation. C7.1B - The pressure gauge on the fire extinguisher appeared to be at an acceptable level, however the tag on the fire extinguisher didn't show that the equipment was inspected recently. Fire extinguishers must be professionally inspected and tagged once a year as per the "Fire and Life Safety for Licensed Home-Based Child Care Settings in British Columbia" booklet.

Observation. C4.1 D - The Licensee communicates with parents when a child has been involved in a minor accident, illness or unexpected events however the incidents must also be logged. C4.1 E - The Licensee's own child must also have a current record identifying personal information. C4.1 J - Child records must include a photo or digital image of each child and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency (I.e. Height, weight, hair & eye color, birthmarks). This information must be readily available at all times, including while outdoors, on walks or field trips.
